5 things to look for before choosing a therapist
Heya!!
Finding a good therapist that fits your needs is hard! Here are 5 things to look for before choosing a therapist to make sure you make decent progress and get your money's worth -
Credentials👩🎓 - The minimum qualification differs for counselling and clinical psychologist. In general, they should have a bachelor's in psychology or a related field and a master's in psychology.
Rapport/vibe🌈 - You can take up a consultation session and see if you are comfortable with the psychologist. If you see that you're not able to open up to them freely, leave.
Difficult talks🗣️ - Therapy is not ‘just listening’, a good psychologist will always encourage you to get better even if it means having difficult and uncomfortable conversations.
Approach✨ - Different therapist uses different approach to deal with clients. So ask the psychologist about their approach and see if it matches your expectations.
Price and experience💸 - Since therapy is long-term, make sure you decide on a budget for yourself and accordingly choose the therapist in that range. If you're a student, try asking for discounts 😉
Hope this help!
